Natural Artifacts

Electro-Acoustic jazz

Natural Artefacts was formed as a trio around the year 2000. After a break of a few years, when the saxophonist Ove Johansson passed away in 2015, the remaining original members Susanna Lindeborg and Per Anders Nilsson started a new edition in 2018, now together with the musicians Merje Kägu guitar and Anton Jonsson percussion, as well since 2022 also saxophonist Thomas Jäderlund. The starting point is, and has always been, a mixture of acoustic and electronic instruments where influences from different genres and traditions are central. Here we can mention free improvisation, contemporary art and experimental music, minimalism, electronica and electroacoustic music. What unites the musicians, however, is their background as jazz musicians. With a repertoire consisting of compositions, looser structures and electronic backgrounds, specially made for this setting, Natural Artefacts, with jazz as a point of departure, improvisationally explores new and unknown musical landscapes. Natural Artefacts have so far released four albums on LJ Record. The latest, The Crux, was published in 2019.
