Anna-Maria Nordström

Eye-catching, fine-tuned and completely unique

Anna-Maria Nordström is a singer, composer and organizer accommodation in Gothenburg but with roots in Skellefteå.

The seed for her debut album was already sown in Boston in 2001. Anna-Maria wrote a number of modal compositions which were recorded as simple demo versions in a practice room. A number of moves later, in 2020, the recordings were discovered again. It turned out that the compositions had not only nerve but also melodic and harmonic dimensions that felt both personal and forward-looking. Anna-Maria started working more with the music, arranged parts of it for up to four brass, but also got inspiration to write even more music, and this time with texts in Swedish where she herself sings.

Anna-Maria put together a band of experienced jazz musicians from Gothenburg to bring the music to life, resulting in some highly appreciated live performances.
