Selection criteria

How MCV works with selection for projects

You have an artist program in MCV is part of the artist agency. Many different types of organizers use our website and contact us to book MCV artists. In the agency, MCV can recommend artists that suit the organizer's wishes, but it is the organizer who chooses which artist they want to book.

MCV has its own projects and concert series where MCV artists participate. We also participate in trade fairs, offer days and expos to present MCV as an organization and you - MCV members. And we are partners in projects that strengthen the free music life, in which MCV artists participate. Here you can read more about how the selection is made, both general selection criteria and specific criteria for different types of events.

General selection criteria

We always strive to be as fair as possible and the selection is based on the following criteria:

  • Artists who have not participated before
  • Genre breadth - artists from different genres
  • Both new MCV artists and you who have been with the association for a long time
  • Even distribution between women and men

Specific selections for recurring events:

Music at the Library

An MCV project - recurring concert series at the library.
MCV submits artist proposals to the libraries based on general selection criteria and based on the libraries requesting a literary connection. Then it is the libraries that choose artists based on the artist suggestions.

Wings, are they there?

An MCV project - recurring concert series where the grand piano is in focus.
MCV submits artist proposals to the organizer based on general selection criteria and based on the fact that it is an artist program where the grand piano is in focus. For the project, mainly solo artists or small groups are relevant. Then it is the organizer who chooses the artist based on the artist proposals.

MCV Day

MCV's own annual inspiration day for organizers.
MCV chooses which artists appear on MCV Day based on general selection criteria.

The MCV disc

MCV's annual compilation album which is sent out to organizers.
MCV chooses which artists participate on the album based on general selection criteria and that the artists are new members that year. To be on the MCV disc, a high-quality audio recording is required.

MCV at Kulturkalaset

MCV participates annually in an evening on a stage at Kulturkalaset in Gothenburg.
MCV chooses in consultation with Göteborg & Co which MCV artists participate based on general selection criteria.

International fairs & expos

MCV participates in various international fairs and expos to present MCV as an organization and you members.
MCV participates in the form of MCR (Musikcentrum Riks). We present MCR as an organization and present a selection of our artists. The selection of which artists are presented is based on general selection criteria and that the artist must have an ambition, will, resources and a plan to work internationally. It is also required that the artist has a complete promotional material. For international contexts, the general selection criterion does not apply that the artist must not have participated before, because there should be a long-term perspective in the international work.

National fairs, offer days & expos

MCV participates in various national fairs, offer days and expos to present MCV as an organization and you members.
MCV participates to present MCV as an organization and then presents our entire range in the form of MCV as an artist agency. In those occasions where MCV is given the opportunity to present MCV artists, the selection is based on the general selection criteria.

Collaboration project

MCV supports various projects that strengthen the free music life, in which MCV artists participate.
The organizer chooses which artists they want to book. In some cases, MCV can give artist suggestions to the organizer based on their criteria, then it is the organizer who chooses the artist.
