What does Requiem mean and who was Fauré? The word requiem means "rest" in Latin and a Requiem is actually a mass for the dead. Requiem is more common in the Catholic Church than in the traditional Swedish church, but several of the texts are recognizable from our Swedish church services such as Holy and O, Lamb of God.
