Anna Heikkinen & Längtans Chapel at Stadsmissionen, Gothenburg

4 May at 15: X - 16:30

Free
Sunday 4/5 at 15:15-16:30 St. John's Church (NB! In our temporary premises at Storgatan 2!) invites you to the performance Satumaa-Sagolandet by and with Anna Heikkinen and Längtans Kapell.
Satumaa – is the title of the most famous Finnish tango. Translated into Swedish, it means Fairytale Land. Through their interpretations of the Finnish tango, Anna Heikkinen & Längtans Kapell search for history and roots, for a Swedish-Finnish identity and a lost language.
The lyrics and narration are based on Anna Heikkinen's personal memories, interviews with relatives, saved letters and diary entries from the Second World War – a troubled time after which Anna's father Pekka came as an unaccompanied child from Finland to Seglora. As a story told by a child to an unaccompanied child, the performance also reflects part of our burning present and future.
With a weave of words and tones, Finnish and Swedish lyrics, accordion, saxophone and cello, the show searches for a lost Satumaa - its own Sagoland.
The songs are sung in both Swedish and Finnish. The story is in Swedish.
The performance is 60 minutes. No break.
