The vocal quartet VOX
Genrebred vocal quartet that specializes in early music, contemporary music and songs.
After many years of being associated with Vara Concert Hall and Music in the West, the Vocal Quartet VOX is now a freelance ensemble. VOX members now combine the work in the Vocal Quartet with singing with other ensembles, giving solo concerts, working as a singing teacher, choir leader and more.
The members can therefore also vary a little. But in most cases it is Mia Edvardson, Amanda Flodin, Tore Sunesson and Matts Johansson.
The vocal quartet Vox started in 1989 as Skaraborg's Vocal Quartet of Music in the West. The ensemble was then the Nordic region's only full-time vocal quartet with a main focus on art music. In 2004, Vox became one of the ensembles at Vara Concert Hall. Since May 2012, the Vox Vocal Quartet has been a free group.
Personal charm and good audience contact is the Vocal Quartet's VOX signature. Regardless of whether the music is from the 1400th century or contemporary, whether it is a song program or a children's opera, whether the audience is young or old, the Vocal Quartet VOX is constantly finding new angles. With desire and courage, the vocal quartet always creates emotional and expressive programs. Vox is a genre-wide ensemble, specializing in early music, contemporary music and songs.
VOX presents here three different programs that can all be reshaped or changed according to context and environment.
1. "MUSIC AND MEDITATION" Program for the church room.
2. "THIS IS LIFE" Programs for various cultural organizers such as chamber music associations, municipalities, etc.
3. "SUCH IS LIFE-MODERN" Contemporary music
In addition to these programs, VOX does some collaborations.
1. VOCES SONORES, with the saxophone quartet Rollin Phones. Newly written music on the theme of respect and compassion.
2. LOVE HAS 100 EVIL NAMES together with, among others, Göran Karlsson, harpsichord, under the direction of Katarina A Karlsson at the University of Stage and Music. New music written music and music from the 1600th century.
** Music and meditation **
The vocal quartet VOX presents a program suitable for the church room - Music and meditation.
As a basis for the program, we download music from the CD "A part of it all" which VOX released in 2010. (The album received the highest rating in Göteborgsposten).
William Byrd's fair for four voices is the connecting putty. From this fair, Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus and Agnus Dei are performed. Rachmanninov's fantastic Ave Maria, Gunnar de Frumeries The Lord is my shepherd and a suggestive Alleluia by Estonian Urmas Sisask are other songs in the program.
The program can partly change depending on the season and context.
The program is excellent as a summer evening concert.
Then VOX Taubes sings As long as the ship can go and So shimmering was never the sea, folk songs like Glädjen's flowers and In this sweet summer time as well as Astrid Lindgren's and Georg Riedel's Poor farmhand. Maybe even something by Debussy, Vaughan Williams or Tchaikovsky.
