Tangótica

Argentine tango with a touch of Swedish jazz

Tangótica is a classic tango sextet from western Sweden and has been active since 2004. The orchestra has participated in performances such as Tango Exil and Dansa runt jorden, Svenne !, which were both performed at Gothenburg City Theater. During 2005-06, the orchestra has also been the husband of "Tango, wine & tapas" in the Stadsteatern's foyer.

The unique thing about Tangótica's sound is the saxophone, which is not normally included in the classical tango. It weaves the music together while creating a modern, slightly bolder sound.

With their different backgrounds from classical music to jazz, it is only natural that they try to open up Tangon to influences from these music styles, but without disturbing the basic feeling of tango.

Sexteto Tangótica mixes dramatic tangos, fast-paced milongas and languorous waltzes from the Argentine tango repertoire of composers such as Osvaldo Pugliese, Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzolla, but also writes his own material which can be heard on the upcoming album. Tangótica consists of six musicians, all established names in Gothenburg's cultural life.

Love Nilsson: saxophone, flute, dance
Jens Lundberg: bandoneon
Cecilia Hultkrantz: violin
Fredrik Bergman: double bass
Stefan Wingefors: piano
