Sara Aldén

With roots in Swedish folk tones, Sara Aldén explores the norm and form of jazz, where she makes American jazz classics her own.

Sara Aldén makes her debut with the critically acclaimed "A Room of One's Own" where she explores the norm and form of jazz with her very own expression and musical language. Together with her trio, Sara creates her own, elaborate space in jazz where she goes to the core of each song's expression as she explores the standard American repertoire. With musical influences such as fellow musician Lina Nyberg, vocalist Ellen Andersson and pianist Tigran Hamasyan, Sara creates broad brush strokes for how jazz sounds today in 2023. Rooted in Swedish folk tones, she takes on American jazz classics and makes them her own, with a new sound and tone , with an intensity and coreness that is life and death.

"Sara Aldén's EP is a red-hot, yes, red-hot calling card. More more more, I exclaim. Right away now! I have heard that a great Swedish jazz singer – a new jazz star – is being born.” — Bengt Eriksson, LIRA Musikmagasin

Sara has previously played with musicians such as Anders Jormin, Malin Wättring and Martin Sjöstedt and performed her release concert together with Lina Nyberg at Skeppet on June 3rd this year. She has worked as a singer at Gothenburg's Stadsteater during the production of Idlaflickorna and after the release of "A Room of One's Own" has begun work on a follow-up record. Sara has received the Fredrika Bremer scholarship and the Royal Academy of Music's local scholarships.
