Marianne Holmboe

Own material with tons of show, jazz, blues and American singer-songwriter tradition.
Marianne Holmboe is originally from Norway, but has lived in Sweden for many years. She has been active as a singer in Gothenburg's music life for a long time and in many different musical traditions; Arabic traditional music with the group Sumer, Greek, Kurdish and Arabic music with Cabarèt Oriental, medieval Arabic, Sephardic and European music in the trio Qyian's circle and in different constellations with jazz, reggae, Nordic song etc. She is also trained in flamenco singing in Seville, and recently released an album De Noche, with guitarist Emil Pernblad.
In September 2007, her debut album came in her own name. The songs are written over a fifteen year period. The lyrics are carefully written stories from life, self-experienced, harsh, beautiful, skinless and cursed. The music is a nice concoction, a happy steamroller, ruthless against everything that is called genre. Marianne strives for a true nerve and a rawness in her expression and likes to have a tone of blues, jazz and Nordic melancholy in her music.
Marianne performs her material in trio format, and with a full band. The trio includes Stefan Bergman on bass and Harald Svensson on keyboard and accordion.
