Maja-Karin Fredriksson
Maja-Karin Fredriksson interprets the poet Ebba Lindqvist. Strong, atmospheric and melancholic pop that goes straight into the heart.
"I Just Want the Sea"
Maja-Karin Fredriksson has set poems by poet Ebba Lindqvist (1908-1995) to music. The passion for poetry led to a trilogy of records where Maja-Karin interprets Ebba's words musically.
Maja-Karin's music is suggestive and at the same time undisguisedly straightforward when it presents Ebba Lindqvist's more than half a century old lyrics. It testifies to a restrained passion, something that lurks beneath the surface. Despite and melancholy, the atmosphere colors when the sea and gusts become redemptive forces of nature to be swept along with.
During the concert, Maja-Karin talks about Ebba Lindqvist's life and her own relationship to the lyric.
"I met Ebba Lindqvist's words through the music. She is actually one of Sweden's most well-known poets. Despite that, many people don't know her. I relate strongly to her texts and think it feels good to bring her words into the present," says Maja-Karin Fredriksson.
"The songs have that salty taste of intuition and the organic form that music takes when it has been played along tours and live in the studio where the musicians can really react to each other's impulses."
