Johan Svensson is a composer who explores the field between acoustic and electronic music. His focus is on chamber music, but the compositions range from solo works to symphony orchestras. His music often includes alternative ways of producing sound by electronic means. At the moment he is interested in electromechanical devices as well as relationships between musicians and machines that can arise in a live situation. He is the artistic director and one of the founders of the ensemble Mimitabu (http://mimitabu.se).
Johan Svensson participates in the project Can yourself! - A sound exhibition for the very youngest (http://vastarvet.se), which is a traveling sound exhibition for 0-2 year old children. He has also been involved in developing the website www.pianoharmonics.com
His music has been performed at the MATA festival in New York, ULTIMA Oslo Contemporary Music Festval, Internationale Ferienkurse für Neue Musik in Darmstadt, Nordic Music Days, conDiT in Buenos Aires and at Sound of Stockholm by the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, ensemble mosaic, Distractfold Ensemble, Curious Chamber Players, Aksiom and Mimitabu and more.
